MEET MARIT — Incoming NDP Leader MARIT STILES is laying out her vision for the NDP.

Stiles was speaking at a candid panel discussion that was originally supposed to be a leadership debate — but because no challengers emerged, the party re-jigged the event to focus solely on their incoming captain.

She spoke about taking on Premier DOUG FORD in 2026, including by bolstering the NDP — which lost nine seats but held on to Official Opposition status in the last round.

That includes boosting riding associations and picking election candidates early so they have enough time to pound the pavement and get to know constituents. She also wants to engage party and community grassroots on policy development.

A cute highlight: Everyone loves a politician with a dog, and Stiles scored some cute points when sharing about her furry friend STEVIE LICKS (a.k.a an adorable Ewok on Halloween).
