ABOVE THE FOLD

This so-far quiet constituency week break is about to get a high-octane dose of DOUG FORD. The Premier, who has a knack for headline-grabbing press conferences, is front and centre in East Gwillimbury this morning. Let’s set the table.

What Ford wants to talk about: As most Premiers of all stripes are wont to do, Ford could make a budget victory-lap announcement.

One thing that’s all but certain: Expect Ford to crank up his anti-carbon tax crusade as the federal levy increased this month, raising prices at the pumps.

For your Ford bingo card: Bonus points if Ford links the federal carbon levy to his political enemy No. 1, Liberal Leader BONNIE CROMBIE, the PC-dubbed “queen of the carbon tax.”

What reporters want to talk about: Loads more — including the back-and-forth with Ottawa that put over $350 million for affordable housing in jeopardy and the latest on the post-secondary front, which will hit private career colleges hardest.

Plus, there’s still plenty of follow-up…
