The old STEVE CLARK is nowhere to be seen. And the old DOUG FORD is making a combative comeback.

Sorry not sorry: As the Ford government grapples with the fallout from Integrity Commissioner J. DAVID WAKE’s latest Greenbelt report, Clark — who plays hockey — seems to be ragging the puck, while Ford has his elbows up.

Anyone who knows Clark — a career politician who, at 22, was elected the youngest mayor in the country — knows that he’s got a reputation for having his head on straight. On the Opposition benches at Queen’s Park, he made a name for himself by pushing for ministerial accountability. I recall back in 2016, when I was cutting my teeth in the Press Gallery, that Clark was vehemently coming for the Liberal energy minister amid the Sudbury byelection bribery scandal, accusing GLENN THIBEAULT of shedding “crocodile tears” and demanding he resign almost daily.
