CANDIDATE TRACKER — The Grits are gearing up for the trio of byelections and have named their candidates for Scarborough—Guildwood and Kanata—Carleton.

In Scarborough—Guildwood: ANDREA HAZELL will fly the Liberal flag. She’s president and chair of the Scarborough Business Association, worked at BMO bank for three decades, and founded the Winspire National Women’s Network Foundation, which aims to empower women and girls.

In her own words: “I have a winning track record of delivering results for our community, and I’m ready to bring that same drive and determination to serve the people of Scarborough—Guildwood at Queen’s Park,” Hazell said in the release.

Word on the street is MITZIE HUNTER, who held the riding for a decade before stepping down to run for mayor, had a strong hand in picking her would-be successor.

Passed over: Hazell’s coronation might come as a surprise to ZAKIR PATEL, the local school trustee who had been actively seeking the nomination. Rumour has it …
