ABOVE THE FOLD
AD WATCH — The House may be out for summer, but the political parties are pushing their agendas and throwing shade at their opponents on social media.
Here’s the latest roundup of paid advertising by the parties and wannabe Liberal leaders, via Meta’s disclosures:
ADIL SHAMJI has called on his fellow leadership contenders to pull their Meta ads in the wake of the media giant blocking Canadian news amid the fallout over Bill C-18 — but most are plowing ahead anyway.
BONNIE CROMBIE’s campaign is pumping her up as the great Grit unifier. The latest hat trick of ads: “With Bonnie Crombie, we can unite every Liberal in Ontario…Bonnie Crombie believes in Ontario. Show your support and bring change to Ontario…I am running for Ontario Liberal Party Leader. Your voice matters as we unite Ontario. Join me!” All ads link to her membership signup page — something that will be crucial during December’s one-member-one-vote convention.
NATE ERSKINE-SMITH pounced on Crombie’s comments…
