DOUG FORD is hosting a sit-down with dozens of Anishinabek Nation chiefs today at Queen’s Park, a meeting billed as part of ongoing conversations around Bill 5, his government’s hot-potato mining fast-track legislation.
But thanks to a headline-making detour in St. Catharines yesterday, the political temperature has spiked.
Going off-script about why First Nations should support the bill, Ford framed it as “an opportunity of a lifetime,” saying the province is offering $3 billion (“with a B”) to bring First Nations in as equity partners in resource projects.
