Politicians continue to make it rain campaign promises.
— A PLACE TO GROW: The Grits are marking Earth Day with a promise to plant 800 million new trees over the next eight years, which the party says would take the equivalent of 500,000 cars off the road.
Liberal Leader STEVEN DEL DUCA took the opportunity to slam Premier DOUG FORD’s government’s environmental record. “Their priority is letting their rich buddies bulldoze the Greenbelt and allow carbon emissions to skyrocket.”
The Grits, which also pledged to create five new provincial parks, says the plan would give all municipalities and families new trees to plant at home and in parks, as well as create 2,000 jobs for recent grads and summer students.
The official announcement goes down at Toronto’s Barbara Hall Park at 9:30 a.m.
