BUDGET DUCKS ARE IN A ROW — It’s the tailgate party before the big fiscal kick-off: Finance Minister PETER BETHLENFALVY will deliver a speech at the Empire Club today before tabling the Spring Budget on March 26.
It’s shaping up to be a who’s who of politicos, policy wonks and schmoozers. If you didn’t score a ticket, too bad, the in-person luncheon at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel is sold out — but you can still grab a virtual seat.
Budget hints: Bethlenfalvy could drop more details about his forthcoming fiscal plan, details for which are typically a closely-guarded secret.
But, as is also tradition, there are the pre-budget leaks of the good-news nuggets, including this latest: A new York University medical school based in Vaughan, to address the physician shortage. Per the Star, “it builds on plans the university has been working on to train future doctors at the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital site near Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 400.”
