LINE-BY-LINE: Premier DOUG FORD opened another can of worms at his latest presser in Burlington. Here’s the breakdown:
On who should be mayor of Toronto (or not): A day after saying he’d work with frontrunner OLIVIA CHOW, Ford said she would be an “unmitigated disaster” for the city. “You want my opinion, Olivia Chow gets in and it’ll be an unmitigated disaster. Taxes are going to go up 25 to 30 per cent, when people can’t afford the rent, can’t afford mortgages now. You know, businesses are going to be fleeing Toronto…My biggest fear is the gravy train 2.0 coming down the tracks.”
It’s no secret who Ford is backing, despite promising to stay out of the fray: MARK SAUNDERS. “I hear rumours, even the staff at City Hall is worried. So get out there and vote…I’m voting for Mark Saunders. I don’t dictate to the people who to vote for, but I think he’d be the best person to keep the taxes low, keep economic development going — and we’ll see what happens next Monday.”
