Breaking this morning: A BITTERSWEET VICTORY — It’s official. MARIT STILES will lead the NDP after no challengers emerged by yesterday’s deadline. In case you missed it, we wrote about what that means, and what comes next, here.
Stiles still needs to be formally inducted by members.
The official line: The party says it’s “steaming ahead to a confirmation vote” as “only Stiles has met all requirements to enter the NDP leadership contest.” That includes coughing up the $55,000 registration fee and securing 100 nominating signatures from four of six geographic regions in the province, 50 per cent from women and 25 per cent from equity-seeking groups.
