DOUG FORD held another headline-nabbing press conference at the precinct on Wednesday, flanked by auto sector heavyweights who warned of the negative impact of Ottawa’s EV deal with China. The Premier seemed to downplay his recent tiff with Prime Minister MARK CARNEY on the matter, while amping up his anti-Beijing stance. Naturally, he weighed in on a slew of other topics closer to home. Highlights:
The Carney olive branch: Despite slamming the PM last week for failing to personally give Ontario the heads-up on the China deal, Ford seemed to ease up and pivoted to his “Team Canada” tone, asking Carney to “consult us, work with us” because we’re “being attacked on two fronts,” by China and by U.S. President DONALD TRUMP. Carney is defending the move.
