First in Observer — FUNDRAISING WATCH — NATE ERSKINE-SMITH was first out of the gate in the race for Liberal leader — and now, he’s the first to disclose his campaign’s cash arsenal.
By the numbers: Erskine-Smith has raised $36,232 from supporters since May 16 (cash raised before his registration isn’t readily disclosed). That’s from 35 donors with an average contribution of about $1,065.
Notable donors include top doc and Unity Health Toronto vice president IRFAN DHALLA, prominent lawyer ASHER HONICKMAN, and ex-MPP ARTHUR POTTS.
Money movers: Erskine-Smith’s chief financial officer recently changed, per Elections Ontario, from ANDREW GOODRIDGE, his campaign manager and staffer on the Hill, to RISHI HARGOVAN, senior counsel at RBC.
Reminder: Registered leadership contestants must disclose their fundraising numbers to Elections Ontario — but it’s early days yet. No other candidates had posted their real-time disclosures as of this morning.
