Del Duca digs in on convoy cop spat

Solicitor General SYLVIA JONES was forced to explain the numbers behind her claim that more than 1,500 OPP officers have been deployed to help deal with the so-called freedom convoy in Ottawa.
But Ottawa Police disputed that, saying the force received 100 officers.
Jones’s office clarified that that 1,500-figure actually reflects the total number of officers since the beginning of the protest, which works out to roughly 135 to 200 cops a day.
Liberal Leader STEVEN DEL DUCA wants Jones to step down over the discrepancy, saying she “must come clean and explain why she deceived the people of Ottawa and pretended to have their backs.”
Del Duca wants Premier DOUG FORD to declare a provincial state of emergency and direct prosecutors to seize property — such as trucks — from folks who refuse to leave. He also says protesters should be on the hook for policing costs — a $800,000 daily bill in the capital.
