CIAO, CLERK — After seven years as the Legislature’s Clerk-in-chief, TODD DECKER is hanging up his hat at the end of the session.
The nays: I asked Decker for an exit interview, but he (politely) shot me down, saying he believes a Clerk should be seen, but not heard.
For his part, it’s all about the MPPs rather than the staff who support them. Ever discreet and professional, Decker was just as gracious in rejecting my request as he’s been in steering parliamentary procedure and decorum since 2016.
The ayes: But plenty others were willing to spill on Decker’s tenure — and it’s clear he’s leaving big shoes to fill.
