GO WEST, PM — If you squint hard enough, it might look like DOUG FORD is positioning himself as the unofficial unifier between the West and Ottawa.
After a virtual First Ministers’ huddle on Wednesday in which MARK CARNEY debriefed the Premiers on his White House meeting, Ford emerged praising the Prime Minister and urging the feds to “start showing some love” to the Prairies and Wild Rose country.
Ford said Carney “did a really good job” in reaching out to the West. “I was pretty blunt. I said, ‘You know, it’s time that your government starts showing some love to Saskatchewan and Alberta’” because the last Prime Minister JUSTIN TRUDEAU “showed no love, matter of fact, to the contrary,”
“So it’s nice” that the next in-person First Ministers’ Meeting will go down in Saskatchewan June 1 to 2, Ford added.
Carney may have called the meeting, but it’s Ford who’s shaping the early narrative.
