LEAKED HEALTH REPORT — The Grits got their hands on a leaked Ontario Health report that shows just how grim the situation is in hospital emergency rooms.

The report, called “access to care,” was drafted this month for the health care officials and provides a glimpse of the situation for the month of August, when ERs across the province were being temporarily shut down.

The Liberals released the document in full.

By the numbers: It shows that every day in August, an average of about 884 patients were waiting for a hospital bed — a 53 per cent increase from the year prior.

— A majority of patients transported to a hospital in an ambulance were forced to wait up to 83 minutes to be offloaded into the ER — a 41 per cent increase compared to the year before.

— Waits didn’t stop there. After being assessed by a triage nurse, a majority of patients then had to wait up to 44 hours to be admitted — 48 per cent longer than August 2021.
