POLL WATCH — The leaderless Grits may be catching up to the ruling Tories when it comes to public opinion.

That’s the upshot from fresh polling from Liaison Strategies that suggests the provincial horse race may be tightening as the PCs go hard on self-congratulatory ads across TV, radio and socials.

By the numbers: The PCs clocked 40 per cent support among decided and leaning respondents, while the Liberals came in at 36 per cent — virtually neck-and-neck when you take into account the margin of error. New Democrats are hovering at 17 per cent while the Greens are at 5 per cent.

“The governing party has been airing countless ‘Protect Ontario’ ads. I’ve seen them on TV, heard them on the radio, and they even play before movies at Cineplex. It’s worth wondering what the numbers would be if the ads weren’t airing,” said pollster-in-chief DAVID VALENTIN.
