DOUG FORD rolled into Hamilton yesterday flanked by his former NDP nemesis turned partner-in-transit ANDREA HORWATH, now mayor of Steel City. The presser was all about ribbon-cutting the new Confederation GO station, but the real drama was in the Q&A with reporters — classic Ford Nation fare. Highlights:

On the Premier’s anti-speed camera crusade: Ford quipped that his relationship with Horwath is “a thousand times better” now than when she was heckling him from the Opposition benches — but, he’s still not backing down on scrapping speed cameras, something Hamilton had been plowing ahead on. Ford took a hard pass on giving the city a carve-out, then pivoted to his next municipal obsession: crime cameras.

“I was asking the mayor about crime as well, because I want to start introducing cameras on crime, if approved by residents,” Ford said, with an eye to tackling the recent spike in home invasions.
