DOUG FORD was at the podium harping on everything from development charges to school board trustees — and, naturally, the Premier is making waves.

On development charges — those fees municipalities levy on developers for new projects, which they in turn use to help pay for growth-related costs like water and sewage infrastructure: Ford called them “the worst thing you could do” and suggested it’s like “taking money out of the people’s pockets” before pumping up his government’s move to scrap the provincial portion of the HST on new home buys. Not the greatest optics for a government that’s been accused of being too developer-friendly.
