DOUG FORD’s charm offensive is back on as he talks tariffs with U.S. Governors and media, while teasing interprovincial trade legislation next week. His campaign manager KORY TENEYCKE, meanwhile, is ripping into their federal cousins’ campaign (again). Before all that: who’s up for a little speculation about the budget?

Wild Budget Day guess: With the 44th Parliament set to kick off Monday, one highlight of the session will be the spring budget. A little birdie tells me Finance Minister PETER BETHLENFALVY is set to make a speech to the Empire Club of Canada soon — something that traditionally coincides with the budget. Sometimes, ministers will reveal the budget date in those speeches. While the speech date isn’t official yet, rumour has it it could take place sometime around May 12. So, my pet theory: the budget could be tabled sometime in mid-May. Over to you, Minister.
