For the first time since September 1, Premier DOUG FORD held a rare in-person press conference Wednesday at Queen’s Park, giving (some) reporters a chance to grill him on a slew of topics from proof-of-vaccination to $10-a-day child care. Here’s what went down.
— On vaccine certificates now in effect: The system was not without its hiccups on day one — including error messages on the website and some patrons being turned away because they were unaware of the new rules.
But Ford defended it as a means to end strict lockdowns. “We can’t afford to shut down again or experience a sudden surge in cases like we’re seeing in other provinces.” And while the certificates are a temporary measure, it isn’t clear what parameters will see them rolled back. “We will only use these certificates for as long as they are needed and not one day longer,” the premier said.
