TESTY TESTIMONY — Premier DOUG FORD and then-Solicitor General SYLVIA JONES are taking their fight against an order to appear at the federal Emergencies Act inquiry to court.
Lawyers for the inquiry — which is looking at the unprecedented use of the Emergencies Act to deal with the so-called Freedom Convoy protesters — said their “investigation made clear that Premier Ford and Minister Jones would have evidence, particularly within their knowledge that would be relevant to the Commission’s mandate.”
The inquiry’s lawyers asked to interview Ford and Jones on September 19, but “this request was refused,” they said in a letter to groups — including the Canadian Civil Liberties Association — that had implored the Commission to compel their testimony, which was obtained by Queen’s Park Observer.
