Much ink is being spilled on Premier DOUG FORD’s family rift over the pandemic — but first: don’t hold your breath for cheaper electricity.

ZAPPED — The PCs’ election promise circa 2018 — to lower hydro bills by 12 per cent — is kaput. That’s according to the Financial Accountability Office, which released a report showing that, from 2018 to 2021, the average ratepayer’s bill shot up by 4.3 per cent, and will continue to rise by two per cent every year.

— The spin: While staff at the Ministry of Energy told the FAO that the government won’t be cutting bills by 12 per cent from 2018 levels, it’s meeting its pledge because bills are still 12 per cent lower than they would have been under the previous Liberal rulers’ Fair Hydro Plan.
