Premier DOUG FORD made a cameo on incoming U.S. President DONALD TRUMP’s favourite channel Fox News last night. Highlights:

On Trump’s 25-per-cent tariff threat: “It’s unfortunate,” Ford said by phone before laying out the numbers behind the crucial trade relationship with the States, especially when it comes to the auto industry, critical minerals and energy. “The real focus should be on China, it should be on Mexico,” Ford said of upcoming trade talks. “We’re so much stronger when we stick together.”

On Trump’s joke that Canada should become the next state: Ford quipped back that Trump may still be upset because “in 1812 we burned down your White House and he’s holding a grudge after 212 years.” That earned Ford a laugh from host NEIL CAVUTO. Ford added Trump is a “funny guy” with a “good sense of humour.”
