Another day, another doozy: DOUG FORD took questions at Queen’s Park and, naturally, delivered a bunch of headline-grabbing soundbites on trade, tariffs, and the SDF file that refuses to cool off. Highlights:
On the virtual First Ministers’ Meeting with Prime Minister MARK CARNEY: Ford said he thought it was “positive” and wants to do it more often to make sure “we’re all speaking off the same song sheet,” especially when it comes to U.S. tariff talk (ahem, perhaps not to repeat the Reagan ad snafu).
And speaking of which…On whether the PM told any Premiers not to run anti-tariff ads down south: “No, he didn’t say anything along those lines.”
On the tariff talk, Ford struck an optimistic tone despite negotiations with the U.S. hitting a wall: “Behind the scenes, there’s always communication,” he said, noting he’s fine with going “sector-by-sector,” but stressed that auto, steel and softwood lumber are most pressing for Ontario…
