WELCOME BACK — The House returns following a not-so-quiet Easter break, which saw the Liberals set the stage for their leadership race and the Ford government recruit big time on the education front. With just six sitting weeks to go before the summer recess, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into.
AND THEY’RE OFF! — The Grits get their new captain December 2.
Behind the scenes: After yet another four-hour marathon meeting, the party’s executive laid out the rules of the race. Much of the fine print was already drafted ahead of Sunday’s meeting — which one source said amounted to a “rubber stamp.”
The cost of entry: Wannabe Grit captains have to cough up $100,000 to join the race, plus another refundable $25,000 deposit.
The rules: Welcome to one-member, one-vote. For the first time, the party will pick its leader via ranked ballots, with in-person (and some mail-in) voting going down the weekend of November 25-26.
