ACE IN THE HOLE — OLG’s new digital sportsbook is making bank.
Football is back and Canadian bettors are making it rain cash — now that they can legally wager on single games and more. And with baseball season in full swing, that’s helped bring in over $3 million in wagers since the provincial agency launched PROLINE+ two weeks ago, when the federal government’s sports-betting changes came into force.
OLG is running the only legal online book in the province — but that could change around December, when the government is expected to launch the new iGaming program and bring in private-sector firms like DraftKings and The Score — which had pegged the Ontario market’s potential at up to $2-billion in annual revenue.
