SCENES FROM LIBERAL LAND — To hear some Grits tell it, this weekend marked the beginning of the end for DOUG FORD’s Premiership.
“It’s time for him to go,” said one card-carrying Liberal as she cast her ballot for party leader in Toronto-St. Paul’s, one of their former provincial bastions. “I do think I’m voting for the only person that can beat him.”
That may seem like a stretch at this point for the third-place, unrecognized Grits. But as the party faithful voted on Saturday and Sunday — using a one-member-one-vote system for the first time ever — the momentum was palpable.
I trekked up to the polling station at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church on St. Clair Avenue on Sunday to hear how Liberals are feeling ahead of the leadership announcement on December 2. Here’s what happened:
