Booze news is, ahem, flowing.
WINNER/GAGNON! — Want a lotto ticket with your lager? The Beer Store got the provincial A-OK to sell lottery tickets as part of the package to liberalize booze sales earlier than expected this fall.
That will help keep the privately owned multi-national conglomerate above water. Food sales may also be on the menu, but tobacco, cannabis and liquor remain off limits. CityNews got the jump.
Not everyone is happy about the move.
The Ontario Convenience Stores Association insists it “welcomes competition in the marketplace” but adds that the “prospect of beer stores transforming into convenience stores, however, raises several important policy considerations.”
