BILLS, BILLS, BILLS — When the House reconvenes on Monday, Housing Minister PAUL CALANDRA is expected to slap his Greenbelt-protecting bill on the Clerk’s table. Here’s what we know so far.

What’s in it: While Oppo critics will be parsing the legislation for potential “loopholes,” saying the Ford government has lost all credibility on the matter — one thing it will include is an “extra layer of protection that doesn’t currently exist,” Calandra told CTV News.

Policy overkill: Details are scant for now, but what we do know is that the forthcoming legislation would codify Greenbelt boundaries and enshrine the PCs policy flip-flop following a summer of scathing investigations into the “flawed” and “chaotic” process that favoured certain developers and prompted a full-on investigation from the RCMP. That’s policy overkill — such land changes are typically hammered out in regulation, but the PCs move means they’ll now be subject to legislative approval.
