Between the lines: Speaking to reporters in Toronto on Monday, the Premier doused gasoline on snap-vote rumours when he said he could seek a new mandate to fight DONALD TRUMP’s tariffs, which he insists are coming and will hit Ontario hardest.
“If it comes to it and we have to spend tens of billions of dollars, we go to the people. Let the people decide — it’s their money,” Ford said.
Recall: Insiders say the tariff situation has gifted Ford the rationale he needs to justify an early election to the public.
Still: “Nothing’s been decided,” Ford insisted. “Let’s see where the tariffs go.” That said: The PCs are reportedly gearing up for more campaign training.
