First in Queen’s Park Observer: The tentacles of vaccine policy — the hottest topic du jour — have reached the Ontario Public Service.
If one union gets its way, civil servants who duck Covid shots could be subject to mandatory testing at the start of their shifts. AMAPCEO — which represents 14,000 professional employees — will announce the call today, with an eye to keeping Covid out of the workplace.
“It provides protection either way,” AMAPCEO president DAVE BULMER said by phone. “No policy is ever going to be 100 per cent mandatory because there’s always going to be room for medical or human rights related exemptions, even if it’s just for a small percentage. We just believe that mandatory daily testing, with the exemption for those that are fully vaccinated, is the most elegant solution.”
