ABOVE THE FOLD
DOWN TO A SCIENCE — It’s officially official. Well, almost. As we first suggested, Premier DOUG FORD, Infrastructure Minister KINGA SURMA and Tourism Minister NEIL LUMSDEN will announce that the Science Centre will move to the new-and-improved Ontario Place grounds. It goes down at 1 p.m.
Location, location, location: But where exactly would the Science Centre fit in? Our sources suggest it could be on the north side of the grounds, in between Therme’s private spa and waterpark and the Live Nation venue.
It’s a controversial move, but Surma said it’s necessary because the centre has “deteriorated as well, as has Ontario Place” and the Ford government wants to “bring them back to life.”
Cue the criticism. NDP Leader MARIT STILES called it a “back-of-the-napkin” plan from the PCs, who seem to be “making it up as they go along.” In particular, she’s not a fan of handing over lucrative public land to private European company Therme.
Won’t someone think of the child…
