ABOVE THE FOLD

DAYCARE DEAL — The big day is finally here. Ontario has clinched a deal for $10-a-day child care with the feds, solidifying its place as dead-last among the provinces.

Premier DOUG FORD and Prime Minister JUSTIN TRUDEAU will drop official word later this morning. What sweetened the deal, according to the Star, was millions in added infrastructure funding.

— Why it matters: With Ontarians headed to the polls on June 2, Ford will boast that his governing PCs can “get it done” — a tagline for their re-election bid launched at the same time the Liberals unveiled a splashy labour platform, complete with a positive ad spot.
