KORY TENEYCKE, the campaign director behind DOUG FORD and the PCs’ electoral winning streak, went on The Herle Burly podcast to dish about the snap vote and beyond.

On the timing of the early election: Teneycke suggested it was more so about the federal political dynamic — and the prospect of a cut-and-slash Conservative PM like, say, PIERRE POILIEVRE — rather than trying to get out ahead of the RCMP’s Greenbelt investigation. Then DONALD TRUMP came along.

“What you really don’t want to be doing is facing an electorate…where a cousin party has just done a bunch of really difficult things, and you’re the first throat that the electorate has to choke.”

While Teneycke and the campaign team wanted to pull the trigger early, “the Premier was pretty adamant that that wasn’t going to happen unless there was actually a genuine reason to go, and, you know, we threw that out into the universe, and the universe brought back maybe an answer to that wish.
