Legal fight over election ads heats up
Plus: New chiefs of staff, a fundraising spat, and the Greens go door-knocking IRL
Good Wednesday morning. This is Queen’s Park Observer — haunting inboxes all over Whitney Block.
ABOVE THE FOLD
The stage is set for another legal fight over third-party election advertising — but first, the latest on a scary situation at Premier DOUG FORD’s house in Etobicoke.
The Premier’s Office said a man allegedly wielding a butcher knife showed up outside Ford’s home and was yelling threats, when an OPP officer nearby took him down. The man was later charged with possession of a weapon and 11 counts of mischief.
(Ford has an OPP security detail, and the officer who tackled the suspect is also apparently the brother-in-law of a Liberal candidate.)
Opposition party leaders were roused to sympathize with Ford, who has had angry protesters show up to his home during the pandemic. (He’s invited them to protest at Queen’s Park instead.)
