SO LONG, LUCY — LUCY WATSON is hanging up her hat after five “remarkable” — and drama-filled — years as the NDP’s executive director. Some are happier than others.
Officially: Per the party, Watson handed in her resignation Tuesday but will stay on to help transition the new exec director, “for whom the search is now underway.”
The party is singing her praises, noting that: “During her tenure, the Ontario NDP broke records on fundraising, strengthened local electoral riding associations, maintained its status as Ontario’s Official Opposition in the last election, built a rock-solid financial footing, and organized its first leadership race in well over a decade.”
New-ish NDP Leader MARIT STILES thanked Watson for putting the party “in a great position to be able to win more for Ontarians now and set us up for even greater success in the next election.”
