ROAD TRIP! — NDP Leader MARIT STILES is hitting the road and launching a province-wide summer tour with a clear message: her party stands with workers — and wants Ontarians to know it.
First stop: Steel country. Stiles is headed to Hamilton this morning alongside her local MPPs ROBIN LENNOX and SANDY SHAW to meet with the United Steelworkers, walk picket lines and call out what she refers to as “DOUG FORD’s Ontario” — one where too many folks are being “left behind.”
It’s a dream of a photo-op: Think hard hats, picket signs and a flurry of orange flags. The NDP has been rallying in solidarity with striking workers from the WSIB and Canadian Hearing Services — so expect the Official Opposition to focus on organized labour and protecting jobs throughout the summer.
Stiles is teasing a job-protection plan around 11 a.m. and promising “to stand with workers fighting for good jobs and fair deals.”
