LIBERAL DRAFT SEASON REVS UP — Toronto city councillor JOSH MATLOW is “seriously considering” a bid for Ontario Liberal leader, multiple Grit sources tell me.
Matlow hasn’t officially entered the ring — or ruled it out for that matter — but he’s said to be taking calls from Draft-Matlow types who’ve been floating his name and quietly building support as organizers pick their contenders and rev up for what will be the Liberals’ third leadership race in five years.
“He’s certainly kicking the tires and would have a strong team in place to support him should he ultimately throw his hat into the ring,” said one senior insider.
Matlow’s potential entry would add a jolt — and plenty of complications — into a contest that’s already getting crowded before it officially begins.
