FAST-TRACK FEVER — A bunch more bills are being sped up thanks to the latest time-allocation motion from PC Leader STEVE CLARK.
For anyone reading the tea leaves that this could be a sign the House adjourns early for winter break, you may be on to something. But for those stakeholders and citizens who were hoping to weigh in on the legislation at committee, and for MPPs looking to make amendments, it’s tough luck.
Plowing ahead are Bill 68, the omnibus mini-budget legislation that among a smorgasbord of other things overhauls campaign finance rules; Bill 27, which deals with carbon storage, wildfires, oil and gas and more; and Bill 46, the latest red-tape reduction package.
Those bills would skip the committee stage and head straight for a truncated third reading, with two hours of debate split between the parties.
