Candidates are going full-tilt on the eve of the election. Here’s the state of play.
When this snap campaign began a month ago, it was DOUG FORD’s to lose — and not much has changed since. The PC leader is holding steady in the polls and angling for that bigger mandate he’s been boasting about. Ford name-checked the regions he’s gunning for in a tweet: “Windsor, London, St. Catharines, Hamilton, Kitchener, Mississauga: I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Provincial payback time: Back in the capital for a campaign stop at Porter, Ford again hit on his rationale for triggering the vote — U.S. tariffs — and mused about the possibility of making Americans pay more for electricity from Ontario. Ford said the government is reviewing the costs and, should DONALD TRUMP make good on the tariffs, “they’re getting a tariff on their electricity.” Ford insisted he’s “moving the needle” on the tariff situation after two jaunts to Washington smack dab in the middle of the campaign.
