The Ontario Liberals seem to be in no rush to pick a new leader. The calendar says otherwise.
BONNIE CROMBIE stepped nearly four months ago, yet the party still hasn’t clearly signalled when — or even how — the leadership race will begin. Word on the street is contest rules, including the cost of entry, could be released as soon as end of January.
Now, there’s a telling development: Kingston MPP TED HSU, who ran in the last contest, has bowed out after “careful consideration” and conversations with family, friends, and fellow Liberals. In other words: at least one credible candidate has looked at the process (or lack thereof) and decided it wasn’t worth jumping into — not exactly a vote of confidence in the party’s momentum.
