Happy Election Day, Canada. Here’s the lay of the land in Ontario:

What the polls are saying: The Liberals are leading the Conservatives in the make-or-break province — but it’s still anybody’s game. Most aggregates show a slim two percentage point margin between the leading parties, but the Liberals have a slight edge when it’s broken down region-by-region.

That means it could be a tough slog for the Conservatives to pick up seats in Ontario. When it comes to the vote-rich GTA in particular, it also means the Liberals may well hang on to those ridings, which they need to do if they have any hope of getting that majority mandate.

But don’t count out the NDP just yet. They’re holding steady in third place and are fairly competitive, putting up a better showing polls-wise compared to the last time around in 2019.
