Card-carrying Progressive Conservatives in the vote-rich 905 are raising concerns about what they call a “sham nomination” contest in Brampton North.

GRAHAM MCGREGOR — a longtime PC organizer and staffer who’s currently working as director of strategy and stakeholder relations to Municipal Affairs Minister STEVE CLARK — was nominated as their contender for 2022 on October 14. McGregor ran unopposed, and the party said he was the only contender “approved by the Provincial Nominations Committee.”

But one Tory operative said a potential contestant was “stonewalled” and not given a chance to contest the nomination. Another insider said a would-be contestant had quietly backed down. Meanwhile, a party source noted no other candidate formally submitted the paperwork for a nomination application.
