FUNDRAISING WATCH — As with the election results of June 2, the PCs took the lead, far outflanking their political rivals when it comes to campaign-era fundraising.
Here’s how the parties money-making machines stacked up during the campaign in May and after the vote, during the month of June — perhaps shedding light on just how happy — or not — supporters were with their electoral performance.
Caveat: Elections Ontario’s real-time disclosures may still need to be consolidated, so these numbers could change slightly.
— For the PCs: In May and June, the PCs added another $1,145,633 to their cash arsenal. Typically the party of big-spender donors that puts them in a far lead over the other parties, they earned that amount from 2,033 contributors forking over an average of $563.
— For the NDP: They may have shaved nine seats off their 2018 showing, but the Official Opposition wound up in a relatively close second when it comes to fundraising, earning $942,525 from 5,164 do…
