SAY CHEESE — DOUG FORD and MARK CARNEY appear to have patched things up over pizza ahead of this week’s First Ministers’ Meeting in the capital.
The pair took a photo-op at a Pizza Nova after a 45-minute closed-door face-to-face at the Premier’s Etobicoke home, their first since Ford chided the Prime Minister for failing to give him a personal heads-up about the China EV deal.
It was a riveting few minutes. Both seemed stilted at first, but eventually loosened up and insisted they “never had a problem” and that it was a “productive” meeting.
Order up: Ford went with a vegetarian slice, a non-controversial choice for someone who hasn’t eaten red meat since working at a meatpacking plant as a teenager.
Carney, on the other hand, picked a pretty divisive pie: ham and pineapple, which was an “exotic” choice while he was growing up. Sure, Hawaiian pizza was invented by a Canadian in Chatham, but it’s a pretty, er, bold choice for someone looking to unite the country. Carney …
