First in Observer — POLL WATCH — A mystery poll is gauging whether voters in Kitchener Centre would support current Mayor BERRY VRBANOVIC as the PC candidate in the upcoming byelection.

Word on the street: Multiple sources in the riding tell me they received either a phone call or web survey asking about the possibility of Vrbanovic’s candidacy. Some residents say the call came from Leger, which asked about their support for the different political parties, biggest issues, Vrbanovic’s approval as mayor and whether they would like to see him as the PCs byelection candidate. The poll also gauged support for NDP contender and two-term city councillor DEBBIE CHAPMAN.

The question from the web: “If Mayor Berry Vrbanovic were to run as the Progressive Conservative candidate in Kitchener Centre, would that make you more likely to vote PC, less likely, or not change your likelihood of supporting the party?”
