Health Minister SYLVIA JONES is pushing back on the privatization talk — but first, education workers are weighing in on a possible strike vote.
BARGAINING BROUHAHA — Amid ongoing negotiations between the province and education workers, one major union is gearing up to hold a possible strike vote.
We got our hands on a memo from CUPE’s Ontario School Boards’ Council of Unions that says the union will meet with local leaders to provide a bargaining update on August 22. Also on the agenda: discussing “province-wide central and local strike votes and the organizing plan to achieve high participation.”
No strike plan has been cleared. A union source says any strike vote must first be approved by local leaders.
LAURA WALTON, president of OSBCU, confirmed workers “are not holding a strike vote on August 22.”
