Q+A: KATHRYN MCGARRY — The former cabinet minister and Cambridge mayor says her fellow Liberals may be down, but not out — and she believes she’s the one to help revive the party ahead of 2026.
As first reported in this newsletter, KATHRYN MCGARRY entered the race for Ontario Liberal Party president as a heavyweight this week. She’s up against two relatively lesser known organizers — FADI EL MASRY and NATALIE HART (who we’ll also be chatting with in the coming days). McGarry’s also got big names backing her, with senior campaign operatives MIKE CAVANAUGH and LUCAS BORCHENKO running her bid.
I caught up with McGarry to find out why she’s running, how she’ll deal with political baggage, where she stands on the one-member-one-vote issue and her strategy going into 2026.
QPO: Why are you running for Liberal party president?
