DO THE MATH — In a rare turn of events, it wasn’t Premier DOUG FORD making the biggest headlines at his own presser — it was a local reporter who roasted him on housing math.
The rundown: At a Sarnia press conference announcing Building Faster Fund dollars — infrastructure cash for municipalities that hit their housing targets — NATHAN COLQUHOUN of the Sarnia Journal stole the spotlight.
He asked Ford if he knew the average price of a home in Sarnia. Ford admitted he didn’t. Colquhoun pointed out it was $550,000 that month — more than the $400,000 in new funding doled out through the BFF — then he bluntly asked: Is this all just “theatre”?
Ford bristled at that, then launched into a rambling defence about “being the average guy that puts his pants on one leg at a time” and rattled off stats about investments and prefab homes. The exchange left him visibly rattled.
